Ice and Fire

Ice of heaven melting

On a fire-covered hell

The water left extinguishes

The flame.

We’re left with drops

Of boiling-hot water

Seeped into the earth

And absorbed by all

The water guzzled, sipped

By every being of breath

Makes them turn one way

Or the other

But each drinker

Contains ice and fire
